The Story of Boaters Guide

One day, as we cruised into Roche Harbor, I was about to hail the harbormaster to get our slip assignment.  Only, I had no idea what VHF channel to use.  So, we found our Waggoner guide and started looking.  By the time we found it, we were already at the dock.  I was thinking there must be a better way.

Shouldn't there be an app for that?   So, I went in search for an app that provided a quick overview of the marinas.  Couldn’t find anything close, so I built one myself.  I thought many casual boaters may benefit from an app that could provide quick overviews of the marinas and more.

My name is Patrick Tessier and I am a third generation boater.  Both my father and grandfather had numerous boats.  I grew up on Lake Steilacoom and spent a lot of time on the water.  Skiing, sailing, fishing, high speed bailouts, you name it, it we could use a boat we did it.  I commuted to high school on my 10’ runabout.  We even built a small Hydroplane.   As an adult, I have been fortunate to live on Lake Sammamish, Lake Washington and now Puget Sound.   You might call me a boat nut.  Even my dog Bella loves boats.

My current boat inventory:

  • 3 power boats, The Ranger Tug R-23, a 16’ C-Dory Angler, and a 20’ Malibu VTX.

  • 3 Kayaks: 14’ Hobie Mirage Oasis Tandem & a pair of 10’ Equinox Kayaks

  • 3 Rowboats:  14’ Whitehall Solo, 12’ Gig Harbor Point Defiance and 8’ inflatable

  • 2 Sailboats: Hobie Mirage and Gig Harbor both convert to sailboats.

  • 2 Standup Paddle boards

I hope you find the app as useful as I do.  The weather safety check is a must before every outing.

Please feel free to email me if you have any suggestions to improve the app.

Find your happy place,
